​​We had foundation issues that impacted our chimney/fireplace. In the process of repairing the foundation, one of the companies that bid on the foundation work asked that we remove the upper portion of our chimney. In asking around for a reputable contractor to remove the chimney, Hearthmasters came up often.

We received a detailed bid from Hearthmasters for the chimney removal but the contractor selected for the foundation work said it would not be necessary to tear down the chimney. However, there were cosmetic issues with the exterior of the chimney and we also wanted to renovate the look of the existing fireplace.

We re-engaged Hearthmasters for that work and were fortunate to do so. The existing fireplace/chimney were poorly installed originally – which led to the cosmetic issues observed which were really symptoms of structural issues with the chimney. Hearthmasters' meticulous attention to detail and vast experience led to resolving the structural issues. Once the internal problems with the chimney were resolved, the exterior cosmetic issues were handled – to our complete satisfaction.

The existing fireplace hearth constrained the size of the gas insert replacement. Fortunately, Hearthmasters' has access to Valor Fireplaces – a longstanding company that makes, among other things, gas fireplace inserts. Selecting Valor's Victorian Arch surround for the gas insert was an easy choice. The mantle was built by Hearthmasters' specifically for our application. In addition, cabling and power was run, by Hearthmasters, above the mantle to mount a flatscreen TV on the wall.

This was a major undertaking, and necessary structurally, but it has also enhanced the value of the home. I cannot thank Gene, Marge, and crew enough for the care and attention they put into resolving our fireplace problems!
